JILL'S BACKSTORY

I've always loved cars & trucks. My dream car was always a Lotus Elise and Exige, but I do have a soft spot for the Audis, though. That will never go away. As time wore on, I grew to love trucks and rugged SUVs. I never took automotive in school, so I had to rely on others to teach me. In my early 20's, I have owned camaros and firebirds and worked on them a little bit here and there. I always wanted to do a show car of some sort, but I never knew how to get into it, and at the time, I never had enough money to accomplish it. It stopped again as life took over. On January 11, 2015, I met Shawn. (This is also how the name of our channel came to be, for it's the middle section of the date we met - 1/15/11). He was a car guy his whole life. He loves working on them as well as aircrafts. He's a natural mechanic. He taught me a lot, and continues to do so.

When Shawn and I lived in Kansas, we would go to every dealership and look at the new cars just to test drive them. We sat in some beautiful cars, the Black Series SLS AMG Mercedes, the Porsche Cayman, among others. We would go to car shows and I would spot the older cars my dad grew up with, as well as the exotic cars. I think, for me, the more rare the car is, the more I am drawn to it. That's why I love Lotus so much.

However, again life took a different turn. I got sick with HER2 Triple Positive Breast Cancer, a rare and very aggressive type of cancer. I found the lump in late 2018. On February 6, 2019 I was diagnosed at stage 2. I was very blessed with an amazing medical team, my co-workers, and my wonderful husband. I had 4 bags of harsh chemo-therapy per session, multiple surgeries, and scans. On July 15, 2019, I not only had the largest and longest of the surgeries performed, but during that surgery, they removed lymph nodes, did tests on them, and I got a clean bill of health. I was deemed cancer free. It is now January 2022 as I sit and write my mini bio, and this July I will be 3 years in remission.

During the month and a half recovery session I had from my largest surgery, I watched A LOT of YouTube and thought it would be fun. I told Shawn about it and asked his opinion. He was on board. We heard Ford was bringing out the Bronco again, so naturally, we went onto the site and built a number of them. We settled on one - The Badlands in Cactus Grey. If you follow us on the channel, you know the story about that. But this was how I spent my time off recovering - building vehicles online.

We started 1Five1 Garage, and we are now proud Bronco owners of 3.5 Broncos! LOL Just kidding! We are proud owners of 4 Broncos (yes, my sport maybe a baby, but it's a bronco nonetheless - even says so on the grill! haha!).
